Machine Learning and Clinical Text by Hanna Suominen

Hanna Suominen of the Turku Centre for Computer Science has successfully defended her dissertation Machine Learning and Clinical Text
at a public defense where I had the honour to officiate as the faculty
opponent. As I have noted previously, participating as an official person in a dissertation defense
is always a pleasure! This occasion was no exception to that observation: Hanna Suominen’s work has applied machine learning on clinical texts in intensive care situations, and her dissertation situated those experiments in a carefully thought out framework for application to real clinical tasks. Her manuscript was a pleasure to read and discuss.
