Today, Ann-Marie Eklund defended her dissertation on framing interaction with an information system using game theory, as applied to a health information system for the general public. Her work was based on a study of the access logs to the information system, and she couched the analysis in terms of the system and the user being players in a collaborative game, taking turns in improving the outcome. The practical outcome of the work reported in the dissertation was a set of principles for information system design, and a set of recommendations to increase the usefulness of the system. On a higher level, this work helps modelling session-level goals in an interaction with a system, and models system initiative more explicitly than a typical evaluative model would. Ann-Marie is now the 45th GSLT Ph D!
